Welcome to The Good News, a place to slow down, open Scripture, and grow in understanding of God’s Word. Each post is designed to help you study the Bible in a simple and meaningful way.
The Bible has guided believers for thousands of years. It teaches us who God is, how He loves us, and how we should live. For families, the Bible is more than a book—it is a foundation for faith, wisdom, and daily life.
When we spend time in Scripture together, we learn how to trust God, treat others with kindness, and make choices that honor Him.
Let’s explore why the Bible is so important for our lives and our families.
📖 Scripture of the Week“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
— 2 Timothy 3:16
This verse reminds us that the Bible is not just a collection of stories. It is God’s Word, given to guide and teach us.
🔎 Word Study: “God-Breathed”
In this verse, Paul says that all Scripture is “breathed out by God.”
The Greek word used here is theopneustos (thee-ah-pnyoo-stos).
This word is made from two parts:
Theos — meaning God
Pneō — meaning to breathe or blow
Together, the word literally means “God-breathed.”
This tells us that the Bible did not come from human ideas alone. God guided the writers of Scripture so His truth would be faithfully written down for us.
Because the Bible is God-breathed, it has the power to:
Teach us truth
Correct us when we are wrong
Guide us toward right living
Train us to grow in righteousness
When we open the Bible, we are reading words that come from the heart of God.
☕ Family Devotion
The Bible helps us understand God’s heart and His plan for our lives. Through Scripture we learn about God’s love, His promises, and the example of Jesus.
Reading the Bible together as a family creates opportunities to talk about faith, ask questions, and grow spiritually. Even small moments spent in God’s Word can help shape our values and strengthen our relationship with Him.
When families make Scripture part of everyday life, they build a strong foundation of faith that lasts for generations.
🌱 Faith in Action
This week, try one simple way to bring Scripture into your daily routine.
Choose one verse and read it together at the breakfast table or before bedtime. Talk about what it means and how your family can live it out during the week.
Small habits like this help God’s Word become part of everyday life.
👦🏻 Kids Table
Ask your children these questions:
• Why do you think the Bible is important?
• What is your favorite Bible story?
• What does today’s verse teach us about God?
Helping kids talk about Scripture makes learning about faith engaging and memorable.
🙏 Prayer Focus
Dear God, thank you for giving us your Word to guide and teach us. Help our family grow in understanding and love for Scripture. Teach us to follow your truth and trust you every day.
Amen.
